Feedback History

Red Tag Camera has been selling on eBay since 2007. They have earned about 50,000 positive feedback ratings, with a current 100% positive overall score. So this is a very successful store on eBay. This is also a Top-Rated eBay store, which means they offer a really high level of item descriptions, customer service, as well as fast shipping.

It’s not easy to become a Top-Rated store on eBay. You have to provide good quality items, accurate descriptions, excellent customer service, and fast shipping. And you have to do this day after day, month after month. So Red Tag Camera has had a very successful and positive selling history on eBay.

Red Tag Camera mainly sells items like cameras, audio and video equipment, camera parts and accessories, lenses, electronics, and more. They sell brands like Canon, Promaster, Nikon, Manfrotto, Sigma, Panasonic, Minolta, and others.

This is one of those eBay stores to visit when you want the retail experience. If you’ve been to a Best Buy store lately, or even any electronics store in general, you should be familiar with the brands and styles that they carry.

Items like Canon EOS 5D Mark III Full Frame Digital SLR Camera with EF 24-105mm IS Lens, Nikon D4S FX-format 16.2MP Digital SLR Camera Body, Nikon D800E Digital SLR Camera Body 36.3Mp CMOS FX-format, Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR Wide Angle Zoom Lens, etc.

Red Tag Camera sells brand new and pre-owned merchandise, and does offer a 100% Authentic guarantee, as well as a 100% money back guarantee.

When you sell name brand electronics, etc., especially at a discount, a popular question is always going to be if the items are authentic, fake, or knock-offs. To answer that question…

Let’s take a close look at their recent feedback history. eBay buyers have a really good way of weeding out the good sellers from the bad. If an item even SLIGHTLY looks like it might be a counterfeit or knock-off, they will leave you bad feedback. And any and all flaws will usually be reflected in a seller’s feedback. With that being said, over the past 12 months, Red Tag Camera has received about 12,500 positive feedback ratings, compared to just 4 negative feedback comments. With that sort of lop-sided ratio, it definitely appears as though Red Tag Camera is an honestly run business, selling authentic merchandise.

Company Information

There isn’t much information available online about Red Tag Camera other than their eBay profile. You won’t find a Red Tag Camera website for example.

Usually, there are two reasons for this:

Either this a store being run by a big brand, using the Red Tag name, or they are a small mom ‘n pop business, without an official registered DBA name. Either way, it’s not really an issue – just an explanation for the lack of information.

What I Like

With the hundreds of camera stores online (and in physical locations across the country), it’s really hard to compete on price alone. For most cameras, or other photography accessories, you’ll find that most stores offer the same price, or somewhere within 10% of one another.

This is where Red Tag Camera differentiates itself. If you browse through their eBay store, you’ll find some value priced camera bundles. These bundles are great for either a beginner looking to buy the appropriate photography equipment for the first time, or for a hobby or enthusiast photographer who needs to freshen up their photo gear.

For example, this is a Canon Powershot G7x Mark II 20.1MP Digital Camera bundle:

is red tag camera legit

This Canon Powershot camera bundle includes:

  • Canon PowerShot G7x Mark II 20.1MP Digital Camera 4.2x Optical Zoom Full-HD
  • Transcend 32 GB Class 10 SDHC Flash Memory Card (TS32GSDHC10E)
  • Small Digital Camera/Video Case (Black)
  • Digital Slave Flash with bracket
  • 12-Inch Flexible Tripod
  • High Speed HDMI to Micro HDMI Cable
  • Dust Blower
  • USB 2.0 Memory Card Reader
  • Memory Card Wallet
  • Flexible Tripod
  • 3 Piece Deluxe Cleaning kit
  • Ultra Clear screen protectors

If you were to purchase this camera, and all of its accessories separately, you would end up spending around $750-800 – hundreds more than the cost of the bundle. As mentioned above, this is great for a beginner, or someone who needs all of the appropriate accessories, but with a budget in mind.

Return Policy

30 Day return policy
30 Day return policy

Red Tag Camera does have a 30-day hassle free returns policy. No need to email back for a return authorization, or deal with with annoying emails back and forth. You just click on return, and send it back. And having a month to do so is quite convenient. However, buyer remorse returns may be subject to a 10% restocking fee.

Of course, you’re also covered by the eBay money back guarantee if you don’t receive your item, or if it’s not as described. In my experience Red Tag Camera is quick to take care of customer concerns, so you probably won’t have to use it anyways.

Final Thoughts

I see some questions online asking if Red Tag Camera is legit, or of their camera bundles are a scam. Based off of their feedback ratio, top-rated seller status, and current 100% positive score, I would have to say that yes, they are legit.

Aside from the regular photography crowd, I think a beginner will definitely benefit from their value-priced bundles.

  1. As said in the article, Red Tag sells gray-market stuff. However, my main complaint is that on eBay, they don’t say it’s gray market and warn consumers that any warranty the item may have is void. A Nikon D3300 camera I received as a gift developed a shutter issue. OK, no problem, right? Send it back to Nikon to get it fixed. WRONG! It seems that my camera was meant to be sold in Great Britain and Nikon won’t service it anywhere in the U.S., so I will either have to send it “over the pond” to get it fixed or have to buy a whole new camera body. International shipping is very expensive, and I expect I’ll have more tied up in fixing this beast than I would in buying a new camera body. The lesson? Unless you’re the throw-it-away-and-just-buy-a-new-one type, BEWARE SELLERS OF GRAY MARKET ITEMS!

  2. I had a very bad experience with red tag camera they sold me a Camera that wasn’t new, no lens cap, no manual I am immediately emailed them with this information and they didn’t contact me back. After four emails I just quit the jokes on me!

  3. I recently purchased a NEW Canon 7D Mark II body from Red Tag. The first body that I received was completely set up and had 1534 photos already taken. Also, the battery life was only one day even though the camera was turned off. Red Tag replaced the body but the replacement body would not focus correctly resulting in blurry photos. I finally ran out of patience and sent the camera to Canon Repair to be repaired. Maybe I was the unusual case but I would not buy from Red Tag again.
