Direct Automotive Products on eBay (directauto) carries aftermarket auto parts, and auto body parts at competitive prices for all types of cars and trucks. They are actually one of the largest sellers of auto parts online. Click on the blue link above to check out their store, and see what deals and promotions they are currently offering. They currently do have a wide variety of products at 33% to 41% off the regular retail price.
Directauto has been selling since 1998, and has earned 500,000 positive feedback ratings on eBay, with a 99.7% overall score. You definitely can’t survive on eBay and accumulate 500,000 positives unless you’re either delivering a great price, excellent service, or a big selection. And a combination of either of those three definitely helps. And they are also a Top-Rated store, so you really feel secure about your purchase from this store.
It’s not easy to become a Top-Rated store on eBay. You have to provide good quality items, accurate descriptions, excellent customer service, and fast shipping. And you have to do this day after day, month after month. So Direct Automotive Products has had a very successful and positive selling history on eBay.
I was excited to do this Direct Automotive Products review as my first full time job was at Kragen Auto Parts. If you’ve never heard of Kragen, it was an auto parts chain like Advance Auto, or Napa Auto Parts before being bought out by O’Reilly Auto Parts. So this is an area that I have 4 years of experience in. Based off of brand names, pictures, descriptions, I can generally tell between OEM parts, and aftermarket; and also between quality parts, and cheap junk.
What’s really impressive about Direct Automotive Products is their extensive inventory of body parts, bumpers, door handles, weatherstripping, etc. Most automotive parts stores online have the regular stuff like filters, hoses, alternators, auto accessories, etc. But there aren’t too many stores that sell the detailed body parts like a door handle, or the whole door, or a center console.
I first started working on cars about 18 years ago. And back then, we obviously didn’t have the internet as it is today. You had to go to junk yards or a dealer for your aftermarket body parts. The dealers obviously charged an arm and a leg, and junkyard parts were iffy. Sometimes they worked, sometimes they didn’t. The problem with salvage auto parts is that – besides being used – unless you have a part that was manufactured around the same time as your original part, it might not fit perfectly for reasons that I won’t bore you about here.
So being able to buy these parts online has made working on, and fixing cars much easier. You get the convenience of buying a brand new part from the dealer, but at a much better price. Not quite junk yard cheap, but a fair middle.
What I like or don’t like
Their store navigation is fairly useful. Their left side eBay category listing is quite extensive. If you click on a main category, you then have multiple sub categories to choose from, like type, brand, etc. Once you get into a listing, the same menu carries over.
Another cool part of this store is that they list all the models and years that a part is compatible with. So there are no guessing games. For example, if you’re looking at a Chrysler / Jeep Black Window Crank Handle, it will tell you all of the 1997 Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep models that this handle fits.
Their attention to detail in their listings, and their stellar feedback really makes you feel secure in shopping from this eBay store. As does their 60-day hassle free returns policy. No need to email back for a return authorization, or deal with with annoying emails back and forth. You just click on return, and send it back. And you get 2 months to do so.
