Is AreaTrend legit? Let’s take another look…
Since I last did a review for AreaTrend on Amazon and eBay, I’ve been consistently asked if they are legit, if AreaTrend is selling authentic products, etc. If you’re shopping for designer watch deals, a new pair of shoes, the latest name brand sunglasses, or anything fashion related, you’ve probably come across AreaTrend store reviews on either Amazon or eBay. And for good reason too. Their prices are consistently among the most competitive online.
If you’re looking for the latest trending fashion accessories, or been researching your next Nixon watch, etc., AreaTrend has probably come across your radar. Or maybe you found an AreaTrend coupon code, and you’re thinking, “this price is too good to be true”. So let’s take a deeper look into their seller ratings, feedback history, and overall reputation online. They definitely have the trends and deals, but do they hold up over a microscope? Let’s see…
What They Sell
AreaTrend carries shoes, watches, sunglasses, handbacks, jewelry, fragrances, etc. They carry the major brands like Timex, crocs, Yves Saint Laurent, Tommy Hilfiger, Casio, Misfit Wearables, Seiko Watches, Herschel Supply Co., Daniel Wellington, Versace, Invicta, Tifosi, Suunto, Keds, Lucky Brand, Diesel, Hugo Boss, Montblanc, and others.
So far, they look like a regular fashion and lifestyle store, with the popular products, and brands. Let’s say you want a pair of Prada Men’s Gradient Linea Rossa PS53NS-5AV3M1-65 Gunmetal Rectangle Sunglasses, or a Michael Kors Men’s Lexington MK8281 Gold Stainless-Steel Quartz Fashion Watch, chances are they have it. Areatrend sunglasses are a steal! So what gives?
AreaTrend is located in North Canton, OH, but they also have their own online store -AreaTrend.com – which is always a good thing. Established merchants usually have their own website; not necessarily a big factor, but still something in their favor.
If AreaTrend is actually a legit seller, this should reveal itself in their feedback and online ratings. Are they selling counterfeit merchandise? Do they sell “grey market” products? Keep reading and let’s find out together.
AreaTrend offers a 100% Authentic guarantee, as well as a 100% money back guarantee, but let’s see if the feedback reflects the accuracy of these guarantees.
Ebay and Amazon feedback isn’t the only place where online buyers share their experience. With the full internet in our arsenal, let’s take a deeper look. AreaTrend has been in business since the early 2000’s, so there’s sure to be a lot of data to sift through.
AreaTrend has been selling on eBay since 2012. As an eBay seller myself, I can tell you that selling on eBay for over 5 years is not easy. I have been selling since 2005 myself, and it hasn’t been always been easy. So I would have to commend them for their longevity there.
Currently, they have about 65,000 positive feedback reviews, with a 99.3% overall positive rating. Anything above 99% is usually a good sign. They are also a top rated seller – which means they have demonstrated an ability to provide a high level of customer service, and accurate item descriptions.
Over the past 12 months, they have earned a 4.9 or 5.0 (highest is 5.0) in all Detailed Seller Rating categories (Item as described, Communication, Shipping time, Shipping and handling charges).
Their Amazon feedback is very similar. They have accumulated about 70,000 positive ratings, with a current overall 96% positive rating. Over the past 12 months, they have earned about 4,900 positive ratings, with just 3% negative. That’s a lot better than you might think. On Amazon, any minor issue takes away from your score. If you ship one day past your promised “ship date”, that affects your score. If you don’t reply to a customer’s email within the specified time frame, that affects your score. So a 3% defect rating is indicative of a good seller.
As I mentioned, there are other ways of judging a seller’s reputation. Most stores and sellers on eBay and Amazon are held accountable by the respective feedback systems. When you operate your own website, you can run your business however you choose too. You can take liberties here or there. Feedback doesn’t affect you nearly as much as it would on platform sites like Amazon and eBay. So if AreaTrend is not truly legit, we’ll be able to find out.
Their Google Customer Reviews for their AreaTrend.com website are also re-affirming. Over 700 reviews, with a 4.7 overall score. The graph indicates that the majority are 5 star ratings.
Other Things to Consider
AreaTrend is a stocking dealer for all of the major brands that they sell. Why is this important?
Did you know that most eBay and Amazon sellers, and most online sites for that matter are drop-shippers? What does that mean? It means that a drop-shipper is basically a middle-man. They take your order (with higher mark-ups), and pass it on to the manufacturer or main distributor, who then sends your the products.
Have you ever had a messy return on eBay or Amazon? Gone through a million emails, and waited for weeks, or more to receive your refund? Then you know this problem all too well.
Since AreaTrend IS a stocking dealer, that means their products come directly from their warehouse. All returns and exchanges are dealt with directly in-house.
Areatrend.com is a Google Trusted store. That means your purchases on their website are protected up to a $1000 through Google.
AreaTrend does also offer a 365-day money back refund policy. Yes, that’s right, 1 year! They offer a full refund, exchange, or store credit, with no re-stocking fees. Always a good sign! Sellers that are up to something include the re-stocking fee to avoid returns. If your products are as described, you rarely need a re-stocking fee.
There you have it. I think we can conclude that AreaTrend is a reputable seller once and for all.
