Better World Books on Amazon is a bookstore selling mostly used books online. The majority of their inventory consists of discounted textbooks, but they also sell fiction, non-fiction, cookbooks, childrens, and audio books as well. Click on the blue link above to check out the special offers they currently have.
With almost 120,000 positive feedbacks, and a 4.8 score, Better World Books definitely focuses on customer service, and attention to product detail. It’s almost impossible to obtain a score of 4.5 or higher unless you’re shipping fast, accurately, and while offering excellent product quality. Amazon buyers can get quite sensitive at times, and it does really take great customer service AND product quality to earn a 4.8 score.
Better World Books is also rated as a #1 Best Seller in some of the categories that they sell. This means that they offer competitive prices, as well as a history of high customer satisfaction in those categories. Whenever you see a seller with the #1 logo, you have most likely found a good seller.
The last time I visited a college bookstore about 10 years ago, I walked out practically with a new home mortgage. Selling textbooks seems like an organized crime racket. A college bookstore is almost like a casino – it seems like a license to print money. And if you compare textbook prices online, you might save like 5%, but nothing of any significance.
Fortunately, a lot of professors these days realize this, and make do with earlier editions so as not to burden students with the added cost. Book buying in college is just about the worst experience you can have as a student, so cheap used textbooks are like water for a thirsty person.
I have used Better World Books before, and have recommended it to my friends who are students. I would highly recommend any student to look into their Amazon store to order textbooks. You definitely can’t beat their prices.
But it doesn’t really stop there, as textbooks are just a part of their store. They also sell everyday regular books, as well as children’s books. From Harry Potter to Computers for Dummies, you should find what you’re looking for as they have over a million books in stock at all times.
As they deal with a lot of older edition and used books, you’re likely to find out of print, or out of circulation books that your local bookshop doesn’t carry. And their special deals make it possible to come away with a handful of books, without needing a new credit line.
What I like or don’t like
Their store navigation is pretty much non-existent. I would like to see some more organization and navigational ability added to this store..
Their stellar feedback really makes you feel secure in shopping from this Amazon store. As does their 30-day hassle free returns policy. No need to email back for a return authorization, or deal with with annoying emails back and forth. You just click on return, and send it back. That’s it!
