There are two things that I really like about this clothes store. First, they have their own unique and individual style. I guess you could call it awkward style. A lot of the stuff you see on Amazon (or eBay) is the same thing over and over. If you look around, you’ll see hundreds if not thousand’s of the same styles and models. Just when you think you’ve found a good vintage shirt, you see another 25 of them elsewhere. It’s nice to have a vintage shop online where you feel like you’re buying your own individual style. Something that a million other people don’t already have.
Secondly, its a fun window-shopping store. It has enough items where you can have fun for a few minutes looking around, but not so much that you get over-whelmed and just leave. Vintage stores sometimes have just a few styles to choose from. In the Awkwardstyles store, there are more than a few vintage styles to choose from, so you can find a few pieces that work for you. If you’re looking for the hot or popular looks from Macy’s or Bloomingdale’s, you might not find much here. If you are looking to further your own individual style, check out their store.
I’ve had a few experiences in their store so far. Here are my thoughts…
With most vintage clothes, or “vintage-style” clothes, the shirts are usually of low quality. After a wash or two, they either shrink, or fade, or both. My shirts from Awkwardstyles were of good quality materials. A lot of times with this niche, you end up with stuff that just fits awkwardly. Mediums actually fit like smalls, and larges fit like mediums and/or smalls. The 4 shirts that I have bought so far all fit nicely.
I did return one of them because it did not look the way I thought it would. They emailed me back right away, and refunded my money a day after the return was received. I hate having to follow up with sellers about refunds, so this was a nice surprise.
Their usual 33% to 40% off promotion makes it easy to just choose 3 or 4 different t-shirts, and take a chance. I think their shirts could make good gift ideas too. Just be sure that you pick the right vintage style for the recipient.
